This is a neat little Oneliner program written using the PPL language for
PCBoard. It was tested & developed on a v15.22 system. To run it, follow the
installation steps listed. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions
on the software, please e-mail me on the Internet.
1) Create a LINER subdirectory off your main PCB directory. ie. x:\PCB\LINER
(a) Unzip the file contents into this newly created subdirectory.
2) Run PCBSetup.
(a) Edit your CMD.LST configuration file and add the following entry.
CMD.LST Editor
Command Sec Minute Use Keystroke Substitution
----------- -------- ----------- ------- --------------------------------
#) LINER 10 <--\ 0 0 x:\PCB\LINER\LINERS.PPE
|
\-- Normal User Sec
3) Edit the LINERS.CFG file with any text editor, and select the following:
(a) LINE 1 - Enter the total number of Liners you would like to be stored
and displayed in 'Anonymous' Mode. (Suggested 16, Max is 100)
(b) LINE 2 - Enter "YES" for 'Anonymous' Display Mode
or
Enter "NO" for 'So and so said' Display Mode
(c) LINE 3 - Enter "YES" for 4 second Keyboard Timeout Prompt
or
Enter "NO" to display the Liners automatically
NOTE: Number of Liners stored & displayed (CFG Line 1) only operates in
'Anonymous' Display Mode!
NOTE: 'So and so said' Display Mode contineously appends new Liners as
they are added, and does NOT trim itself down. The program can work
with upto 250 lines total in 'So and so said' Display Mode, which
should be plenty! Anything over 250 lines will be ignored. If the
LINERS.TXT file gets too large for your liking, or over 250 lines
long, you can trim it down with any standard text editor.
NOTE: Display Mode (CFG Line 2) is used to set the mode of Liner operation
you prefer for your system. 'YES' will set it to Anonymous, and it
will NOT display the users name that entered it! 'NO' will set it to
So and so said, and it WILL add the name of the user that entered it!
NOTE: 4 second Keyboard Timeout Prompt (CFG Line 3) was made for systems
that run Liners automatically after logon, but don't want to mess up
their users scripts. It will ask the user if they "Wish to view the
Liners", and exit the program if they don't answer within 4 seconds.
4) If you selected 'YES' in CFG Line 2, rename "LINERS.YES" to "LINERS.TXT"
or
If you selected 'NO' in CFG Line 2, rename "LINERS.NO" to "LINERS.TXT"
5) Edit your menus (BRDM, BRDS, Etc) to reflect the new "LINER" command added.
6) That's it, you're done!
NOTE: FILTER.TXT is a normal text file that can be edited with any standard
text editor. The format is simply one word per line. This allows you to
easily update the profanity filter as you think of words to add. These
words can occur from anywhere within the Liner, and will be rejected!
NOTE: LINER.TXT is a normal text file that can be edited with any standard
text editor. The format for "Anonymous" Display Mode is one Liner per
line upto 75 characters in length, plus 4 characters at the begining
for the @ color code. The format for "So and so said" Display Mode
consists of three lines for each Liner added. Line one is the @ color
code + User Name + said the following. Line two is the @ color code
plus the Liner. Line three is a blank line used to seperate the next
Liner that is added.

This program is distributed as SHAREWARE. Registration is absolutely FREE!
This programs operation is NOT crippled in any way! There is a small 3 second
shareware nag when the user exits the program. I like to think of this program
as emailware. I'm simply interested to hear from other PCBoard SysOp's that
run PCBoard, and especially those who run PCBoard/2 for OS/2.
To register, just send me an e-mail message on the Internet to: guy@in.net
In the message, leave me your SYSOP NAME and BBS NAME as you would like it
to appear in the program. I will UUEncode your registered version in a reply
message. If you register Liners, (like it's really time consuming and
expensive to send me e-mail), I will also send a registered version of the
Liner Editor program (EDITLINE.PPE) which allows you to easily edit the
liners listing without having to drop into a text editor!
